I loved working for GitHub. I got let go because of covid 19, but I am hoping to be hired back. They were very fair to me, the company culture is awesome, and I loved my team.

When you first join GitHub, you don't think it's a bad environment. It's a cool office with catered lunch but unfortunately, the environment is really toxic. HR is terrible and Microsoft has made it worst :(

Pros\r\nTrust, flexibility, great product, brand name, awesome leadership that has done this before. I really feel that these will be the best working years of my career. There's plenty of room for promotions if you hit your numbers and with Microsoft in the picture, I have no doubt their influence will accelerate our ability to succeed.\r\nCons\r\nJust like any startup we learn by doing, so there are occasional ups and downs, but the growth mindset and comfort with mistakes is embraced at the highest levels of leadership.

GitHub is easy way to start contributing to programming projects and build some work experience. It is also beneficial in terms of learning to problem solve real world issues.
