Reviews

  • Ok Anonymous Employee

    November 27, 2019

The pay is excellent, but they don't hire contractors, no matter how talented/skilled. I don't feel like part of the rest of the company, because I'm not an employee. Moving up is completely ambiguous. There's no clear path for advancement. It seems like someone only gets promoted if they can \"play the game.\"\r\n\r\nUpper management is probably the worst I've ever seen. Their planning is horrible. I went through 6 months of working alone with no lunch. This was all because upper management decided to rip away most of the team and create a new team. A team of 10 was reduced to a team of 3. I was stuck doing the work of 3 people alone, with no lunch break. I would not recommend working here.

  • Deep talent but incompetent executive leadership Anonymous Employee

    April 6, 2021

IBM has some deep talent technically but the executive leadership, which starts with the CEO and down have no clue on how to get IBM on track to be more competitive. Constant layoffs are conducted to make the financial numbers look good on Wall Street, but true revenue from innovative products and services continue to decline. Competent executive leadership is lacking at IBM.

  • You do valuable work for the clients Anonymous Employee

    April 6, 2021

You do valuable work for the clients\nHowever that being said that may or may not be of value to IBM\nWhile they say that the clients satisfaction is priority that is not always what is meant\nOften the work preformed may be classified as out of scope or part of scope creep, even though it has always been preformed in the past\nSort of a nickel and dimeing way to get more money from a client, now this is not always the case, but it did happen on several account I worked in and saw personally \n\nOver all I enjoyed my job at IBM and would recommend it, but I would say it is NOT the IBM of the past, say pre 1990 where IBM was one of the top companies to work for \n

  • No Trust in Executive Leadership Anonymous Employee

    April 6, 2021

Despite being an eternal optimist, IBM has managed to make me believe that they will repeatedly choose to focus on following others (10 years behind) or state grand visions that is not well executed (and often not properly interpreted) through all levels of management. Despite a desire to innovate at the top, ranks below opt for spinning metrics to tell other stories to be self-serving. Missions change every 6 months given no goal or organizational structure time to bake in. There is also no actual customer focus. Customers who pay a lot for technical leadership often find a delay in service due to mass RAs of the wrong resources.

  • Lacked clear direction; poor top down communication Anonymous Employee

    April 5, 2021

I was fortunate to work for great mid level managers however the direction of our segment would change often and was not adequately communicated downstream.
