Duties: Deliver database architecture, contribute to reference IT architecture, and implement best practices, policies, and guidelines around data warehousing. Create enterprise data models with focus on conceptual, logical, and physical modeling for medium-to-large scope projects involving multiple systems of records. Engage with project stakeholders to understand business requirements. Assist with defining data model development methodologies, principles, standards, and governance considering people and process optimization aspects. Drive data modeling sessions with data warehousing partners, Business Analysts, and ETL and Business Intelligence (BI) teams. Inform technical decisions to support long-term strategy around core data models. Collaborate with BI partners to create and socialize patterns for business intelligence, data warehousing, and advanced analytics. Partner with Metadata Repository (MDR) and data stewards to make sure key data classifications along with... technical and business metadata is defined and captured. Interpret results of analyses, identify trends and issues, and develop recommendations to support business objectives. Drive reuse of data and data models at all levels. Develop understanding of current data context, processes, and availability, and apply it to achieve the desired benefits. Establish standards around flexibility of the data model to ensure deviations are within established guardrails. Use knowledge of business objectives and strategies, and identify opportunities where data can be leveraged to achieve the desired business benefits. Ensure data quality within the ecosystem by aligning to firm's guidelines, standards, and procedures.
Minimum education and experience required: This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (any), Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field of study plus seven (7) years of experience in the job offered or seven (7) years of experience as Data Architect, Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, IT Consultant/Project Manager, Technical Lead, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Master's degree plus five (5) years of experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree plus seven (7) years of experience.
Skills Required: This position requires five (5) years of experience with the following skills: performing analysis, reconciliation, and integration of project data models for different subject areas in order to produce an integrated Enterprise business data model; working on 3NF, Relational, and Dimensional models to create the Logical and Physical Data Models using Erwin tool; working on data models such as Teradata FSLM, Teradata mLDM, or IBM banking data warehouse (BDW) models; coordinating models using Erwin Model Mart (Erwin MM); validating data models or performing data model reviews and obtaining signoffs; preparing modeling standards for Logical and Physical Data Modeling including .nms files, Class words, and Audit columns; migrating Oracle or SQL server databases to Teradata database; business intelligence (BI) tools such as Cognos, Business Object (BOBJ), or Tableau; performance tuning of SQL; and working on data profiling. This position requires two (2) years of experience using Informatica, Informatica Power Center, or similar ETL tool.
