The American Express One Identity team is responsible for driving the strategy and implementation of the global Identity management platform across all of American Express applications, APIs, and touch points with both consumers and business users (merchants and corporate users).

You will be a part of an exciting team that will drive transformation around how American Express Digital Customers identify, authenticate and access Amex digital platforms using innovative authentication and authorization mechanisms.

What You Will Do
• You will develop high scale APIs with inbuilt observability, resiliency and performance
• You will be a member of a highly functional squad that drives end to end delivery of capabilities for Amex customers
• You will interface with product owners to break down complex initiatives into achievable goals using an agile development process
• You will create highly effective design and simple user integration guides on how your code works and how it needs to be consumed
• You will find opportunities to research, learn and evangelize new technologies, frameworks and concepts that challenge status quo
• You will use tools to your advantage to cut down on mundane tasks and drive speed through automation
• You have action bias to tackle complex problems with limited resources

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications
• You are a hands-on engineer who takes pride in and ownership of your code
• You have at least 3+ years of experience working on production ready code using languages such as Java, C# or GO
• You have excellent technical and communication skills to clearly articulate and present solutions to complex problems
• You have broad experience building APIs & micro-services using techniques like REST, RPC (gRPC and similar), Functions (AWS Lambda)
• Have exposure to asynchronous I/O and reactive paradigms like Node.js, Akka or Vertx, Golang and Rust for native systems
• Understanding of identity authentication and authorization principles such as HMAC, OAuth/OIDC
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to articulate and document design ideas and simple user guides
• You take pride in minimizing tech-debt, attention to detail and believe in strong engineering culture
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Good To Have
• Docker/Kubernetes experience
• Identity & Access Management principles, federation solutions using SAML, OAuth/OIDC
