Your Role and Responsibilities IBM Z is seeking a software engineer to be part of a highly skilled, results oriented agile team working with industry leaders in developing the next generation tools platform for the mainframe that powers over 90% of top 100 banks globally, and used by over 90% of all Fortune 500 companies today. As part of DevOps for Enterprise Systems group under IBM z Systems working on the IBM Application Discovery & Delivery Intelligence product (ADDI), you will join our mission and commitment in delivering state of the art software technology in our modern tools platform for working with large scale enterprise systems. ADDI is an analytical platform for application modernization. It uses cognitive technologies to analyze mainframe applications to quickly discover and understand inter-dependencies and impacts of change. As a Software Developer, you are part of a highly focused, self-managed Agile team who designs, develops, tests & deploys applications that interact with mainframe applications on z/OS. You will help bring digital applications to life by creating robust enterprise platforms to support rich and interactive front ends. Your expertise in designing and building high performance, reliable enterprise applications allows you to build the services, integration, data, analytics and algorithms required to support next generation experiences. You interface with enterprise architects and delivery teams to shape, estimate, and define the programs that turn ideas and prototypes into fully functional systems. As a member of a dynamic team in supporting the delivery of enterprise software for a large user base, you demonstrate leadership, technical curiosity, a self-starter, creativity as well as forward thinking with a passion for growth and innovation. The tribe has embraced the Whitewater tool set making extensive use of GitHub, ZenHub, Travis and Slack. The team culture is truly collaborative with an emphasis on working together to deliver value, sharing knowledge, and demonstrating the flexibility to pick up whatever is the next priority on the backlog. The following set of required and preferred skills represents an ideal, and the most important attribute is to embrace best of breed engineering and development practices to craft well tested, and high quality code. Required Technical and Professional Expertise Minimum 5 years experience in z/OS software development Minimum 5 years experience developing in HLASM/Assembler, REXX, COBOL, Java, C/C++ Minimum 5 years experience working with mainframe SCM (e.g. Rational Team Concert Enterprise Extensions (RTC EE), Endevor, Git/GitHub/GitLab) Strong working knowledge of ISPF, TSO, JCL, JES2/JES3 Experience in designing and creating high performance and secure z/OS applications Experience in designing and creating server-side automated test cases for z/OS applications Problem investigation and issue determination using IPCS A self-starter & ability to work effectively in a team environment Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise Experience in working with z/OS subsystems (CICS, IMS, MVS, DB2, MQ) Experience in mainframe storage solutions and database technologies including ISAM, VSAM, IMS, DB2 Experience in Socket programming in assembler and REXX Experience in SMP/E deployment and install for products Experience in Node.js on z/OS, Java EE, WebSphere Liberty Experience in microservices architecture and API design Must have the ability to work in Canada without sponsorship.
