Job Description

Description : Reporting to the Director of Communications and Corporate Affairs, the Web Designer/Developer, as part of the web team, is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the Vanier College websites and taking care of accessibility compliance and search engine optimization related tasks. More specifically, but not limited to, the Web Designer/Developer: •Website updates/changes through liaison with college staff using WordPress; •Creation of forms, surveys and sending of mass... emails; •Creation of web friendly newsletters; •Performing analysis of the websites to monitor reliability, usability and security; •Analyzing site statistics and compiling reports to pinpoint potential improvements to website structures and information flow; •Taking care of graphic file optimization & basic graphic issues; •Conducting accessibility tests and maintaining adherence to accessibility obligations; •Addressing search engine optimization, browser, connection and platform issues on the Vanier College websites; •Supporting the measurement and analysis of online visibility of the Vanier College programs, events and branding campaigns using Google Analytics, social media metrics, etc. and creation of reports based on the data compiled; •Leading the Search engine marketing campaigns, able to prepare reports, analyze and optimize the campaigns; •Managing video (YouTube) optimization; •Act as a technical advisor on web accessibility issues and concerns; •Leading the email marketing campaigns along with the analysis of the results and reporting of information; •Creating fast and effective landing pages for marketing campaigns. Other related tasks which fall within the scope of the classification of this position may be assigned. Schedule:Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (35 hours a week) Classification:Analyste (Analyst) Requirements : Qualifications: •University degree in web design, or equivalent and/or background in Information Technology, Knowledge Management, Information Studies, Management of Information Systems, or related discipline.Conditions related to the specific position: •Knowledge of website development, maintenance, programming, security, multimedia and graphics design (portfolio required); •Demonstrated knowledge of Web design and programming competencies of a complex nature (portfolio required); •2 years of experience working on larger Intranet or Internet websites; •Strong knowledge of content management systems; •Good understanding of database systems (Microsoft SQL and MySQL), WYSIWYG (visual) editors, Markup, CSS and PHP coding skills; •Strong understanding of Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing, Keyword Research/Analysis, and creation of SEO friendly content and pages; •Strong understanding of addressing website accessibility issues to prepare information that is easily accessible by visually or hearing impaired individuals as well as preparing material for different technological platforms; •Good understanding of Google analytics; •Good foundation in YouTube optimization techniques; •Good foundation in social media and social media metrics •Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel and Word (to be tested); •Excellent English oral and written communication skills (to be tested); •Good French oral and written communication skills (to be tested).
